What began as a PBS documentary with the lofty goal of fostering hope and inspiration through music has now become a worldwide phenomenon. Inspired by the passion and energy of street musician Roger Ridley’s rendition of “Stand by Me,” Grammy award-winning producer Mark Johnson set out across the globe on one of the most incredible journeys in modern music: “Playing For Change.” Johnson traveled the world, recording and filming street musicians of different faiths, backgrounds and ethnicities, then blended their contributions into one unified and moving performance. A collection of musicians from the video came together as the Playing For Change Band. More than a dozen woodcarvers from across the state will showcase a variety of artwork depicting wildlife, flora and fauna and/or traditional Native Americans on Feb. 25-26 at Eagle Creek Park's Earth Discovery Center. Artists will demonstrate how they create their works and talk with visitors about their craft. A children’s area will be available for kids to try their hand at carving bars of soap with various kid-friendly tools. Many carvings and sculptures on display will be available for purchase. A percentage of proceeds will benefit the Eagle Creek Park Foundation, Inc, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the protection and preservation of Eagle Creek Park. In addition to the ongoing monthly artist series, this exhibit is the first of three nature-themed art shows scheduled at Eagle Creek Park for 2012.

The 9th annual Taste of Carmel event will be held on Thursday, March 1st, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Carmel Ritz Charles. This extraordinary event will showcase 25 to 30 of the area’s finest restaurants, wineries and breweries, plus a silent auction containing more than 100 items. Shane Rodimel will entertain. This adult only event is attended by over 400 Carmel community members each year. All proceeds from this year's Taste of Carmel will benefit Orchard Park Elementary School, as it celebrates it's 25th year as a Carmel Clay School. Warner Bros. Studios Presents Bugs Bunny at the Symphony, created and conducted by George Daugherty, on Saturday, April 21 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, April 22 at 2:30 p.m. at Paramount Theatre Centre in Anderson, Indiana. Bugs Bunny at the Symphony is a blockbuster family-friendly fundraising event for the ASO and the Paramount Heritage Foundation. We Got Game
Most Sunday afternoons at my parents’ home have always been reserved for football. If my family needs to get together to celebrate a birthday … and it’s a Sunday … and there’s a football game on … that birthday celebration is going to be scheduled around the football game. Or it’s going to coincide with it, in which case we’re all going to sit and watch the game together. There are no questions asked about this routine—even if the Indianapolis Colts are losing … a lot. . . .
